Hi! I'm a West Texas gal stuck in the Northwest! Well... not really stuck.. I followed my Mama and sister here over 30 years ago with a 2 yr. old on a greyhound bus, and fell in love with Eastern Washington State. People still notice my southern draw, which makes me smile. :)
I actually stumbled into jewelry making in 2006 when my Mama gave a box packed full of beads, tools, supplies and even a jewelry learning book to me. I didn't want to hurt her feelings, so I accepted the box... but at the same time, I thought..."ME? Make jewelry?!".. so the box was put in my closet where it sat for months. When Christmas rolled around, I needed just 3 more "girl" gifts... but my funds were short. I pondered about that box in my closet for a few days until I finally made up my mind to give it a shot. Well...much to my surprise, I found myself really enjoying the process of putting earrings together and even made a necklace/earrings set! And when my family raved about my designs... well that cinched it for me. Plus, my (now late) brother told me I had found my niche, and boy he was right!
I found etsy by chance one day while searching the net. I set up my account and opened my shop for business on May 21, 2007 and made my first sale 16 days later. Since then, I've sold more pieces online and started selling locally. I've met the most amazing artists, made some life long friends, and I have the BEST customers! My jewelry has been published in multiple "Bead Trends" magazines, including the cover of the April 2011 issue. The cover!!! I still can't believe it! It's amazing what can happen when you take a chance and try something new. All you have to do is "begin." I'm SO thankful for that box of beads, but even more I'm FOREVER grateful to my Mama for giving it to me. It's a magical ride!!
My passion for making jewelry is never ending, and I'm really happy to be able to share it with others. Thank you so much for your interest in my story and my jewelry.
